Homework

We distribute homework packets on Mondays.  Students are required to hand in completed packets on Fridays.  Giving students four days to complete the packet allows families flexibility with their weekly schedules.

Learning to manage schedules is an important life skill. With your support, have your child plan his/her weekly schedule.

Reading each evening, including the weekends, for 20-30 minutes is part of your child’s homework. Please consider nightly reading as important as completing the paper and pencil tasks.  Twenty minutes times seven evenings is 140 minutes.  140 minutes times four weeks is 760 minutes!   Be committed to this nightly reading!

It is important an adult family member reviews his/her child's homework.  The packet will keep families updated on current units of study.

It should be noted that the purpose of homework is for students to practice skills introduced in class and for review. Some learning takes practice, and even more practice!  We also use homework to familiarize the children to standardized testing formats.  Homework is often “test-like.”
