Learning Community Charter School
Model United Nations

modelUN

In the 2014-2015 school year, LCCS launched its Model United Nations Club. A rarity at the middle school level, Model UN provides students with a chance to excel in leadership, research, to learn about the world around them, to collaborate with their peers, and to meet other students from around the country.

In Model UN, students research and study United Nations member countries, learning about current events and international issues. At conferences, student delegates are presented with a realistic "International crisis," and they must represent their chosen or assigned country to respond to the crisis, the same way diplomacy works in real life.

In 2015-2016, LCCS students will be attending two conferences:

On Nov. 7, 2015: The Greater Washington Conference on International Affairs, in Washington DC at George Washington University.
