Ask Your Child About...

Reading Workshop:

Good readers of non-fiction can find the main idea and locate supporting facts!

Main ideas are often found at the beginning of paragraphs or even in the article title or chapter heading.

Math:

Fractions - What does it mean to divide things equally into halves, thirds, or fourths? How would we divide three sandwiches evenly between two people?

What about three balloons?

Writer’s Workshop:

The students are diligently working on finding facts that will help support the different chapter titles/headings they have created for their non-fiction research books.

Science:

The Sandy Hook Beach & Bay trip was a great adventure!  The bay is a wonderful habitat for small sea creatures. What did we find in the net after going seine fishing? And, what can we do to help protect marine life?
