Learning Community Charter School
Admissions Information

The Learning Community Charter School (“LCCS”) is chartered to serve Pre-K 4 through 8th grade.  The school is open to families living in Jersey City.

Admission to LCCS is conducted through a yearly lottery. The Lottery determines who gets admitted for the spaces available, and, if not admitted in what order the placement will be on the waiting list.

Enrollment applications will be available October 2nd, 2017 through January 5th, 2018, excluding weekends, holidays and school closures. The applications are available at the school's website

The deadline to submit the applications is January 5th , 2018 at 3:00 P.M. No exceptions.

As openings occur (mainly in late summer), applicants from the waiting list will be called. Siblings of currently enrolled students receive priority, followed by non-sibling applicants in accordance with their position on the waiting list.

When messages have been left at all contact numbers and emails and the applicant does not respond within 48 hours, or if they decline, they will lose their place on the list and the next child will be asked.

It is the responsibility of the applicant’s parent or guardian to make sure that all contact information on the application is current and the school is notified if contact information changes.

LCCS also conducts Open Houses for the public; generally one Saturday in November and December and one weekday evening and one weekday morning. Please click on Open House Schedule Link for additional information.

Please note that if you elect not to come to the open houses we will not conduct private school tours later in the year.

LCCS has added an additional feature to our lottery process.  A Weighted Lottery allows low-income families the opportunity to double their chances for getting into LCCS if they receive certain types of public assistance.  If you believe you qualify for the extra lottery chance, you will need to indicate on the application that 1) you are applying and 2) indicate what type of assistance you currently receive.  If you do apply, you will be required to provide the enrollment coordinator proof of the assistance prior to the January 5, 2018 deadline. Families who qualify will have their children’s name entered into the lottery twice, doubling their chances.

If you live in Section 8th or Public Housing please provide a copy of a current lease. If you are receiving SNAP/TANF please provide a copy of your government issued ID. If your child qualifies for free or reduced lunch at current public school please send a copy stating such. Please send all documentation to In the subject line please state "Proof of Weighted lottery qualification" and  include your child's application number
